The moment that I collected my gigantic box and the bad news days before flying back to NZ
After arriving in California, I've rented a Bronco to go exploring, sightseeing and Off-Roading around..
Los Angeles, Long Beach, Hollywood, San Francisco and then... My friend's house!
I have a vivid memory of them inviting me to watch the F1 and have a beverage or two. As soon as I arrived I was greeted and entered their living room filled with anxiety and excitement scanning the room for said big box. I didn't need to look too much.. There it was.. beside a small table right as I entered his house.
I played cool not to take away the amazing time with the awesome people plus watching the race.
As soon as i was ready to go to my hotel, we've had to shuffle few things arround to fit it on the trunk lol.
Another few days passed by and my robot was still boxed and sealed. After many many awesome adventures, memories, meeting amazing people.. I was ready to start packing to go back home.
I stopped for a second in my hotel room, looked at that gigantic box filling up the entire sofa and started to do my research about how to take it with me. (I know I should've done it way way earlier and have no excuses for that). My research was filling me with worry, concerns and uncertainty by every page/source/website that I looked at. There it was in bold letters on Air New Zealand prohibited items: Batteries with more than 160W cannot go on a plane even on the cargo area..
I panicked, calculated the W, recalculated to make sure that it wasn't bad formula but no... I was facing a challenge.
I, then, decided to call Mammotion USA Support center to ask them if there's anything that they could do to help me. The lady wasn't sure as to what the heck I was trying to do but I've explained my situation and asked if there was any certified repair/service shop that I could physically take my Luba 3 so they can safely remove the battery and I don't void the warranty. To my surprise she said nop, we only allow them to accept our products when we ship to them and there's no customer facing allowed. I told her that the only reason that I wanted to take to them was because of the warranty as I do have background in robotics so was careful to not even turn it on to be 100% sure that there were no energy through the circuit board at all.
SHe said that this would not be possible and that I could remove the battery on my own, void the warranty and purchase a new battery when I arrive in New Zealand through their APAC distribution channels.
So I thought.. HOLD MY BEER haha...
I've documented the entire process, removed the battery and bought the biggest travel bag that I could find.. Here I was at the airport with 3 gigantic luggages paying for extra dispatched items but bringing my Luba 3 High Cut version home...
How proud i was.. feeling like I've just made the best investment ever lol...
Next time I'll share the arrival :)
Thanks a lot for all the emails and feedback...
Yes, the website is not too responsive yet as I'm super busy at work but I'll put a "make up" this weekend!
